Tuesday 18TH December

Well Raydar did not come home for his holiday's he stayed at the stables in Lyth and Natalie's mum worked him. He has been coming on really well, he did his first jump on Saturday. Should have him home for new year cant wait.
A lady that was at the stables last weekend was asking Natalie about Raydar, she is wanting to buy him but i don't think ill sell him as she is just looking for a happy hacker, i feel he would be wested doing that.
Natalie has also bought a new mare for her stables so Raydar is in love, she will have to watch him though as he was late gelded so it is possible that he could get her in foal.

Tuesday 27th November

Raydar's shape is now changing, he is developing muscles. He is starting to look very nice now. He will continue to improve with the more work he does. Lunging him is helping to develop his muscles.
This last week Natalie has been lunging him for 5Min's on both sides then getting on his back and walking and trotting around the sand school, Raydar has been coping very well doing this. On Saturday when I was through seeing him I got to have a sit on his back, I only went a walk round the sand school though.
Raydar is coming home this weekend for a 2week holiday, I cant wait!!

Tuesday 20th November

Well guy's i don't really have much to say this week as not much has happened. I got Raydar a new rug this week it is a 6ft, full neck, purple and blue tartan one, he hasn't had it on yet though. He also got the hood for his other rug back on Sunday he will be warmer at night time now.
Natalie was lunging Raydar with someone lying over his back at the start of last week he was a bit nervous but coped with it well. Towards the end of the week she managed to sit up straight on his back and is now walking around the school on him. She hopes to have him trotting round the school with her on his back by the end of this week.
Raydar is coming home on the 2ND of December for a two weeks holiday then he will go back to Lyth to start working on his canter.

Tuesday 13TH November

This last week Raydar has been getting on very well . Natalie has started lunging him , the first two times she tried he was very scared and pulled her into the corner of the sand school . Now he knows that he is to go round in circles , he also knows the difference between walk and trot . I got to have a shot at lunging him on Sunday I thought it went rather well .

Raydar has settled in completely at Natalie's now , he gets to graze with the other horses , as they have accepted him into there heard . There is one horse that Raydar gets on with really well his name is Squire he is the alfa male at the stables . He also gets stabled in the day time when the other horses are working , he just stands at the door and watches them working as the sand school in right in front of the stables .

This week Raydar also managed to rip the hood of his rug so I had to take it off him to get it repaired so he will be feeling it a bit cold , I should get it back in time to take it back through to him on Sunday though .

Tuesday 6TH November

This last week Raydar had off , by this I mean he didn't do any work he just rested in his field . On Sunday I put him away to Lyth riding school , as this is where he is getting broken to ride . I got up at 7am on Sunday morning to get his things ready such as tack , feed and his rugs . I went up to Armadale where his field is about 8am to load him in to his trailer, that was only the 2nd time in his life he had been in a trailer and he went in it no bother . When we got to Lyth I unloaded him , put his rug on then put him out to the park with his breakfast . When he was eating his food I put his tack and things away in the tack room then watched the first lesson .

Raydar must have known I was still there as when he finished eating his food he jumped over the fence and cantered down to the sand school . We decided to put him in one of the stables for a few hours until he got familiar with his new surrounding's . Not long after this I went home , the lady that is breaking him in text me later on that night to say he had settled in well , I'm going to see him on Sunday so I will have more to tell next week.

When I first got Raydar

I got Thunder Jack (Raydar) about 3 months ago . When I got him he was terrified of people and sticks , I think he was treated badly by his first owners . He had 2 deep cuts on his hind quarters and 3 smaller cuts on his face . My initial plans were just to buy him and let him get better then find him a good home where he would get the love he deserves , as time went on I started to see the potential in him and have decided to keep him .
Over the last few months I have been using food to gain his trust , it takes a long time for a horse to forget how people have treated him . Now Raydar trusts me I find it a lot easier to work with him . He has let me put all his tack on him (saddle , bridle e.t.c.) and he has let me sit on his back . He also lets me pick out his feet now and was his legs , he still gets a bit nervous but would never try to hurt me . Last week Raydar got his first rug on him in his life , he was a bit unsure at first but I think its safe to say he loves it now .
The next big thing that is going to happen in his life will be to get broken to ride . He is going away this Sunday the 4TH of November to a small riding school just out side of Wick to get broken . I'm not sure how he will cope with it but only time will tell .
